Membership
Regular Zen practice is possible only after attending the introductory talk or course and for members of the Verein zur Förderung des Zen-Buddhismus. After the introductory talk or course, you have 1 month to take part in the Zazen events at the Bodhidharma Zendo Vienna (“city Zendo”) free of charge and without obligation. Once the month has passed, participation in Zazen requires membership.
Membership entitles you to attend all events held by the Bodhidharma Zendo at the Vienna city Zendo, such as Zazen on every weekday, and reduced participation in retreats held by the Bodhidharma Zendo at the Hyakujōgan Zendo Hohe Wand. It also includes regular updates by e-mail as well as participation in the association’s general meetings and the right to vote and to stand for the board.
Membership fee from April 1, 2026:
Supporting membership fee: €45 per month
Membership fee: €35 per month
Reduced fee for students, job seekers, and those in financial need: €20 per month.
The Zendo is open to everyone. Financial constraints should not prevent participation in Zen practice. A reduction or waiver of the membership fee is possible upon request.
Please transfer the membership fee to the following account:

• For our Zen retreats at the Hyakujōgan Zendo, members pay only a reduced contribution. Participation is nevertheless open to everyone. Taking part in Sesshins and Zazenkais does, however, require prior experience. Please write to us at mail@bodhidharmazendo.net so we can clarify whether your meditation experience, constitution and prior knowledge match the demands of a Zen retreat.
• Special events at the Bodhidharma Zendo, to which separate invitations are issued, are likewise open to all those invited without membership; where such events are designated as public, they are open to all.
