Easter Sesshin

20.03.2027, 17:00 – 27.03.2027, 12:00

Zen retreat over the course of one week.
This intensive Zen training takes place in seclusion and absolute silence within the community of the Sangha (the group of practitioners).

Led by:
Abbot Seigaku Kigen Osho

The daily schedule is precisely structured, usually beginning at 3:30 AM and ending around 9:30 PM. Many times throughout the day, sitting meditation (Zazen) and walking meditation (Kinhin) alternate with one another. Sutras are recited (transmitted scriptures of Buddha’s teachings), there is a daily Dharma talk (teaching) as well as Long Kinhin (long-distance walking meditation in the Hohe Wand Nature Park) and the opportunity for Taiwa (individual conversation with Kigen Osho, if desired). Through Samu (work meditation involving simple tasks in the house and garden), practitioners have the opportunity to practice Zen during everyday activities, striving for Samadhi—the “non-thinking” achieved through full concentration on the activity or complete merging with the respective task—to the point of forgetting the personal self. The silence and the many hours of Zazen enable deep insights and experiences to be gained.

Cost for full board:

EUR 350 for members (EUR 400 for non-members). Dana at your own discretion. Prior experience is required for participation; please write us an email to clarify this. Further information here. Registration by email to mail@bodhidharmazendo.net.
